ROTTERDAM ZOO INFO
Rotterdam Zoo is committed to the concept of coordinated captive breeding programmes as a means of maintaining viable, self-sustaining populations of endangered species in captivity. As a result the zoo participates in numerous EEPs (European Endangered Species breeding Programme) and other breeding programmes. In addition members of the zoo personnel coordinate seven EEPs and compile two European and one international studbook as well as chairing two of the European TAGs (Taxon Advisory Groups). In this part of the Rotterdam Zoo website we will make a number of the documents arising out of these activities, available to a our colleagues in other zoos.
We will begin with documents relating to the international studbook of the red panda (Ailurus fulgens) and the red panda EEP:
- Red Panda Studbook (pdf):
This file is the complete studbook listing for all red pandas that have been recorded in the studbook. Animals are listed according to date of birth. The list is complete up until 31 December 2008.
- Births, deaths and transfers (pdf):
This file contains all the births, deaths and transfers of red pandas which occurred betwee 1 January and 31 December 2008. Separate lists are provided for each of the two subspecies. animals are listed according to studbook number.
